China Unicom gets more than 100,000 reservations for the new iPhones

Despite the fact that pre-orders have already begun for the iPhone 5C, no official figures have been released as of now by any of Apple’s major partners. China Mobile is the first to break its silence, the carrier claims it has received over 100,000 reservations for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

Its interesting to note that China Unicom has been able to clinch all of these reservations regardless of the fact that it has still not announced the pricing for Apple’s new smartphones. Analysts expect that this time around, subsidies are going to be lower than what were being offered with the iPhone 5. China Unicom is the second largest mobile carrier in China, behind behemoth China Mobile.

The carrier will launch both new iPhones on September 20, the day that the new smartphones are shipped out in ten select markets. This is actually the first time that the new iPhones are being launched in China in line with the global launch day. Apple was rumored to focus more on the iPhone’s penetration in the Chinese markets, recent steps that it has taken do point towards that possibility.

China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile network, is also reportedly going to launch the iPhone soon. As per analysts, it already has 42 million iPhones on its network, despite the fact that it has never sold an Apple smartphone before. The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are expected to be available from China Mobile by November.
