Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare sales down 51% compared to Black Ops 3

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare sales are down over 51% when compared to last year’s Black Ops 3, according to data from the NPD Group. This year’s space-based shooter hasn’t made its way to last-gen consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and while that could account for a small portion of lost sales, it looks like gamers generally weren’t as keen to take a look at the latest instalment in the CoD franchise.

Citing Cowen analyst Doug Creutz, CNBC revealed that Infinite Warfare sales were considerably down from last year:

Infinite Warfare units came in 17% shy of our expectations, down close to 50% year-on-year.

The game has a decent single player campaign, but it isn’t as compelling when it comes to the multiplayer experience as last year’s Black Ops 3. And that, at the end of the day, is the likely explanation for its lacklustre sales.
