BlackBerry Priv Verizon variant cleared by the FCC

BlackBerry Priv

The Verizon Wireless variant of the BlackBerry Priv has finally been certified by the US FCC.

All decks are now clear for the handset’s debut on the Big Red. The carrier had confirmed last month that it will indeed be carrying the BlackBerry Priv but refused to give out any availability info. But it does look like Verizon could begin selling the Priv starting late January or early February next year.

BlackBerry CEO John Chen had recently mentioned during an earnings call meeting that the company expects the Priv to be available through more carriers once the AT&T exclusivity agreement comes to an end. That happens on January 20th, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Verizon announced pricing and availability in the last week of January.
