Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry has finally launched its first flagship Android smartphone in the Indian market today. The BlackBerry Priv will be available via both online as well as physical retail stores in the country starting January 30th.
The company has priced the Priv at Rs.62,999 ($923) in India, raising quite a few eyebrows. BlackBerry seems to think the high launch price is justified due to the Priv being a unique offering and boasting of a highly secure software experience. BlackBerry also promised that it will continue to roll out monthly security patches for the smartphone, making sure that it remains secure against all new threats.
In terms of specs, the Priv isn’t quite remarkable for the price. It offers a 5.4-inch dual-curved Quad HD AMOLED display, hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB onboard expandable storage, 18MP rear camera, 2MP selfie camera, and a 3410mAh battery.
