Purported press render of an upcoming BlackBerry smartphone with the model number BBC100-1 has been leaked today, showing a full-touchscreen display. According to reports, the smartphone will be called the BlackBerry Aurora. A live image showing the device had in fact shown up on the web yesterday.
It is being rumored that the Aurora will be a mid-range handset with pretty ordinary specifications. Like most lower mid-range smartphones, it is expected to sport a 5.5-inch sized display with 720 x 1280 HD resolution. Powering the smartphone will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core core chipset, likely clocked at 1.4 GHz. It will be paired with 3GB of RAM, along with 32GB of internal memory. We do expect there to be a microSD card slot as well, allowing for further expansion. The smartphone is also expected to sport a 3000mAh capacity battery, which sounds decent enough. Rest of its spec-sheet includes a 13MP primary camera, 8MP selfie camera, 4G LTE connectivity, and Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with BlackBerry services and the DTEK app pre-installed.
The BlackBerry Aurora will be made by PT BB Merah Putih, which means it is mainly targeted for Indonesia and other emerging markets. In Indonesia, the BlackBerry Aurora will apparently be priced ar RP 34,99,000 ($260), which is not bad for the specs on offer. Color options at launch will include Gold, Silver, and Black.
