The Asus Zenfone Zoom will finally go on sale later this month in Taiwan after a really long wait.
Asus had announced the Zenfone Zoom back in January this year at its CES press conference and re-introduced at the company’s IFA 2015 event. Its main USP is its rear camera that is equipped with a 3x optical zoom module. Unlike other smartphones with optical zoom, the Zenfone Zoom is only 12mm thick, which makes it look a lot more appealing. The camera offers 13MP resolution and also includes optical image stabilization with support for 1080p video capture.
The smartphone will be sold in Taiwan through all five major carriers by the middle of this month in Black and White color options. A Pink color variant is also expected to be available at a later date. The 64GB variant will carry a price tag of 14,000 TWD ($430), while the 128GB version will be priced at 16,000 TWD ($490). Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Asus has any plans of bringing the Zenfone Zoom to markets outside Taiwan, at least not this year.
