Asus unveils its new ROG GR8S steam machine PC

Asus today announced the new ROG GR8S steam machine that uses the existing GR8 2.5 liter design with updated internals.

The ROG GR8S is a gaming PC that features the appearance of a console, giving you all the performance of a larger gaming PC in a much more compact 2.5-liter chassis. It can be used in your living room or you could even hook it up to your HDTV for a console like gaming experience.

Asus claims the GR8S will be updated with future Intel Core i5/i7 and NVIDIA GeForce 9 series graphics cards when it goes on sale later this year, around November. The GR8S core includes SupremeFX audio, Intel Ethernet and GameFirst III for lag-free online gaming, built-in Miracast receiver, dual-band 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, low heat output and low power consumption with operational noise of just 20db when idle, slide-off covers for additional 2.5” HDD/SSD and DIMM upgrades.

While final configurations will be revealed only by the holiday season, we do know that the PC will be available at $699 for the base configuration.
