Asus schedules IFA press event for September 2, but will we see anything new?

The ZenWatch 2, first introduced at Computex in June, is guaranteed to make a second appearance in Berlin, probably alongside ZenFones and ZenPads recently unveiled.

It’s no secret Asus sees its mobile, not PC division as the key to a prosperous future, and the 4 GB RAM-packing ZenFone 2 seems to pave the way for an important growth in the company’s smartphone gains.

Of course, a single handheld, no matter how beastly and affordable, can’t boost the OEM’s mainstream profile all by itself, which is why a slew of nichier models flooded the market of late.

The ZenFone Selfie targets narcissistic buyers, the ZenFone 2 Laser features a very skilled rear camera at an economical price, the Deluxe caters to fashionistas with a swanky design, and the Max promises to last days between charges.

Anything else on the horizon? It’s not impossible, as the Taiwanese manufacturer plans to visit the capital of Germany on September 2. That’s the same day Sony will likely debut the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact, but Asus may not have something as impressive up its sleeve.

After all, their IFA video teaser clearly stars the ZenWatch 2, which they previewed months ago. It’s possible therefore they’ll re-introduce the ZenFone 2 Laser and Max, perhaps also expanding their reach worldwide.

Similarly, we expect to see the ZenPad C 7.0, 8.0 and S 8.0 announced for European markets. A mysterious monitor or desktop PC is hinted at in the short 20-second clip embedded above, so Windows 10-related announcements could be in store too.

Finally, we don’t want to rule out hearing about PadFone, Fonepad, Memo Pad or Transformer Pad family renovations, which would definitely spice up an event that looks bland at a first glance. Remember, Asus insisted a few weeks back hybrids are still very much part of their future plans.
