ASUS ROG today announced the introduction of the Maximus VIII Impact mini-ITX motherboard. The board offers the best compatibility with both min-ITX case designs and CPU coolers, allowing users to build a PC that’s big on performance but small in size.
Based on the latest Intel Z170 Express chipset and LGA 1151 socket, the board supports the 6th Generation Intel Core processors. For maximum performance and overclocking, the mobo features vertically-mounted Impact Power III full-scale voltage-regulator module (VRM), 5-way optimization, and bundled Fan Extension Card for easy tuning and cooling. It also includes Pro Clock technology to push base clock frequencies beyond limits, and is compatible with the latest DDR4 modules supporting extreme speeds of 4133MHz and higher.
The motherboard includes 2 DIMM slots, 1 PCIe 3.0 x16 expansion slot, 4 SATA 6Gb/s slots, 1 U.2 slot, single USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A and USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C ports, and 6 USB 3.0 ports. Other highlights include an ESS ES9023P DAC with HyperStream technology, 2VRMS headphone amp, latest Intel Gigabit Ethernet with LANGuard’s signal-coupling technology, 2×2 802.11ac MU-MIMO Wi-Fi, and support for NVMe solid state drives.
