Asus today announced a new smartphone targeted at selfie lovers, dubbed the ZenFone Live (ZB501KL).
The ZenFone Live features a 5-inch IPS display with 720 x 1280 HD resolution. Powering the smartphone is an unspecified Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, paired with 2GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the smartphone will be available in two variants – 16GB and 32GB. If you do not mind storing your files on the cloud, you will be glad to know that you will be getting 100GB free storage on Google Drive once you register with your Google account. The rear camera on the ZenFone Live is a 13MP unit with 1.4 micron sized pixels and an f/2.0 aperture 82-degree lens. On the front, the smartphone comes equipped with a 5MP selfie camera that features a dedicated soft light LED flash for taking selfies under dark lighting conditions. For improved audio recording, the ZenFone Live has dual MEMS microphones as well, which are claimed to eliminate background noise completely. It packs a 2650mAh capacity battery, so battery life may not be very impressive. The handset runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, with the Asus ZenUI 3.0 layer on top.
The main USP of the smartphone is the ability to stream live to social networks with either the 13MP rear camera or the 5MP selfie camera on the front. You can even apply beautification filters on your face while you are live streaming.
