Asus announces the world’s first smartphone with the new Snapdragon 821 SoC

A day after Qualcomm announced the new Snapdragon 821 SoC, Asus has announced a new variant of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe powered by the new chip.

Apart from being the first smartphone with the Snapdragon 821 SoC, the new ZenFone 3 Deluxe variant also includes 256GB of built-in storage. Other than these two main differences, rest of the spec-sheet is identical to the Snapdragon 820 variants of the smartphone. In case you have forgotten, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe features a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with 1080p resolution and comes with a 23MP main camera at the back. It also includes an 8MP selfie camera, a fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, and the latest connectivity features.

The new ZenFone 3 Deluxe version is expected to go on sale later this year, with a price tag of TWD 24,990 ($776) for the Taiwanese market.
