ASUS Announces TUF Sabertooth X99 motherboard with USB 3.1

At the CeBIT computer expo in Germany, Asus today announced the TUF Sabertooth X99 motherboard with USB 3.1 Type-A ports. The Haswell-E full-size ATX motherboard is the latest addition to Asus’s TUF lineup, featuring a Fortifier, Thermal Radar, and a Thermal Armor.

Asus says the new TUF Sabertooth X99 is the world’s first consumer desktop motherboard to support all NVM Express storage devices, including PCI Express (PCIe), M.2 PCI Express and the latest 2.5-inch SSDs with SFF-8639 via the mini SAS HD connector on the Hyper Kit expansion card.

The Sabertooth X99 is compatible with the latest LGA 2011-v3 socket Intel Core i7 processors with a quad-channel memory controller. It supports up to 3-way NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFireX. With support for next-generation SSDs, the motherboard is capable of 32Gbit/s SSD transfer speeds, 3.5x faster than traditional SSD drives.

Asus Sabertooth X99 happens to be the first TUF motherboard to come with the TUF Detective app. With the TUF Detective app, users will be able to view live system information right on their smartphone or tablet display without having to turn on their PC. For the app to work, you will need to plug in your Android smartphone to the USB port on the rear cluster.
