ASRock held a press briefing today in Taipei where they showed off some of their latest wares including a new gaming branding, mini PC’s and Skylake motherboards.
The first of what we are sure will be dozens of 6th Generation CPU supporting motherboards are the Z170 Extreme 7, Z170 Gaming K6 and Z170 Gaming-ITX AC. We have to say, we really like the new designs. Classy, without too much over the top bling.
Looking at the Z170 Extreme 7, we see no less than 3 m.2 slots plus a mini PCI-E slot, DDR4 support, dual gigabit LAN, an updated ‘Purity Sound 3’ solution and USB 3.1 with Type-A and C support. That’s already an impressive spec list and that’s without seeing ASRock’s traditional Extreme 9 or 11 products yet.
The Z170 Gaming K6 looks to be an evolution of the current Z97 boards, with the improved Purity Sound 3 solution and Killer E2200 networking being the key gaming features. USB 3.1 with Type-A and C is also present.
ASRock have long pushed Mini-ITX products and this is set to continue with the Z170 range. Due to limited space considerations, its hard to really pack features onto ITX boards, nevertheless we still have Ultra M.2, SATA Express, Gigabit LAN plus dual band AC WiFi. What looks like a 6+2 Phase PWM should allow for some overclocking headroom too.
ASRock has revealed a new preying mantis inspired logo that we’ll see a lot of on their Gaming products going forward. The company hasn’t ended the long standing relationship with pro gamer Fatal1ty though, with his name and logo still present on the Z170 Gaming K6 motherboard.
The logo makes an appearance on their new G10 Gaming router. In addition to various gaming oriented features such as traffic prioritization, this router features the latest WiFi technologies including Multi user MIMO with 8(!) antennas to deliver a theoretical 1733Mbps over 5Ghz and 800mbps over 2.4Ghz. We’re interested to see if this can elevate ones gaming experience above that offered by a standard well specced router.
Mini PC’s are all over the showroom floors and ASRock is not missing out. The company have revealed their latest Beebox models featuring new Braswell SoC’s with improved graphics performance. With support for 4K displays, triple monitors, USB 3.0 Type-C, AC WiFi, mSATA and SATA support, this kind of unit should have performance levels that defy their diminutive size.
