Apple Store down ahead of new iPhone launch event

In less than an hour Apple’s iPhone launch event will kick off. For almost a couple of hours now, the online Apple Store has been down. This serves as an indicator that new products really are going to be announced today.

We’ve traditionally seen the online store go down hours before an event at which the company is expected to unveil new products. It usually comes back online after the announcements have been made, updated with the new products, their full specifications, features as well image galleries. With iPhones, the case usually is that customers aren’t able to purchase them immediately after the store goes back online.

Today, for the first time ever, Apple is expected to unveil two new iPhones. The iPhone 5S is one of those models, it is the existing iPhone’s successor with improved internal hardware and possibly a fingerprint scanner as well. The second iPhone is said to be Apple’s first budget smartphone, which is known as the iPhone 5C right now. This smartphone is said to have hardware similar to the iPhone 5. It is expected to be made from plastic and to be offered in as many as five colors.

Both new iPhones are rumored to go on sale on September 20th. It is likely that Apple will begin accepting pre-orders for its new smartphones today through its online store. We’ll know for sure in less than a couple of hours. Stay tuned.
