Apple lowers iPhone 4 shipment volume for 2nd Quarter

Apple has lowered its expected shipment volume of iPhone 4 for the second quarter of 2011 from 20 million units, to 17.5-18 million units. Read on.

Reasons for the lowered shipment volume are cited to be due to an inventory volume of about 2 million units of iPhone 4 and the upcoming launch of iPhone 4S which is scheduled in September 2011. Sources indicated the production of iPhone 4S to begin in August.

iPhone 4S will be using Qualcomm 3G and CDMA chips.The rear camera is expected to be a 8-megapixel resolution model which OmniVision Technologies and Taiwan-based Largan Precision will supply.
