Apple iPhone 6s camera gets tested by DxOMark, fails to beat Android rivals

iPhone6Scamera

The folks at DxOMark finally published their review of the new iPhone 6s camera. The sad news is that the new 12MP shooter didn’t quite manage to impress them as much as some of you may have hoped.

With an overall score of 82, the iPhone 6s is placed at the 10th position on the DxOMark mobile chart, way behind rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, LG G4, and the Sony Xperia Z5. Surprisingly, the new model falls behind the older iPhone 6 as well, which is ranked 9th in the list with the same overall score of 82.

Quite frankly, the results aren’t very surprising as Apple uses a tiny 1/3” type sensor on the iPhone 6s, now with a higher 12MP resolution. Almost all of the smartphones that have been ranked above the iPhone 6s feature significantly larger camera sensors, up to 1/2.3” in case of the Sony Xperia Z3+, Google Nexus 6P, and the Sony Xperia Z5.
