Earlier this year, the rumor mills suggested that Google would partner with Huawei for a Nexus smartphone later this year. Today the first alleged specifications of the device have come to light, courtesy of a Chinese analyst.
According to the analyst, the Huawei Nexus smartphone will arrive with a 5.7-inch Quad HD 1440 x 2560 resolution display and will be powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 810 SoC. As you might know, Huawei is one of the few Android manufacturers that is also involved in the mobile chipset business. It has been using its own custom Kirin SoCs in a number of its devices and earlier rumors indicated that the Nexus smartphone manufactured by the company could also be powered by a Kirin chipset.
Other specifications of the device remain a mystery for now, but we do wonder if there will be another Nexus smartphone with even more high-end specifications. Rumors had earlier claimed LG was also going to be making a Nexus smartphone, so there is a possibility that the Huawei Nexus smartphone will be the more affordable one of the two and could be targeted at the mass market with a highly competitive pricing like the Nexus 5 and older Nexus smartphones.
