Analyst: iPhone 5S to come in a 128GB variant, feature new A7 chipset

KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple will be launching an iPhone 5S variant that has a gargantuan 128 GB of built-in storage, making it the second iOS device after the iPad 4 to feature the high and mighty storage capacity

Going by Apple’s current pricing model, the 128 GB iPhone 5S would cost $499 on contract, and it remains to be seen if this variant will target businesses and design professionals instead of the general public, just like the 128GB iPad 4.

Kuo expects the next iPhone to be powered by a new A7 chip, based on the ARMv8 architecture and with 20 percent more energy efficiency than the Apple A6x, though with the same amount of RAM as before (1 GB). The camera is also expected to be an upgraded unit (the camera modules were allegedly leaked recently), with F/2.0 aperture and dual LED flash for better low-light performance than previous iPhones.

The often-accurate Kuo goes as far as predicting a gold color version of the iPhone 5S, though he doesn’t believe Apple will implement NFC just yet, despite rumors on the contrary. The official unveiling of the next-generation iPhone is reportedly set for September 10th, so it’s not long before we find out how many of Kuo’s predictions turn into reality.

Would any of you be willing to cough up the cash for the 128 GB iPhone 5S?
