With the rising prominence and importance of eSports in the gaming world, AMD has unveiled Radeon ReSX, a product of a special internal development division of the Radeon Software group known as Project ReSX (Radeon eSports Experience). Through Project ReSX, AMD aimed to optimise AMD Radeon GPUs for the most popular and demanding eSports and gaming titles on the market today. These include Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), Dota 2, and Overwatch.
In Radeon Software update 18.3.1, the improvements brought about by AMD’s Project ReSX can be had by Radeon owners. With significant performance advantages over the Radeon Software Adrenaline Edition that was released late last year.
The updates brought about Project ReSX are not just aimed at absolute raw performance, but also at ensuring consistent performance by monitoring the 99th percentile frame time – the 1% low FPS. This ensures that the frames that are most difficult to render are accounted for and are rendered effectively.
Smooth animation, an integral part of GPU performance, is ensured by minimising the time between mouse clicks and on-screen graphics response. This makes a huge difference at the competitive level where milliseconds mean the difference between victory and defeat. Input lag has been reduced drastically, as a result of software enhancements and collaboration with leading game developers worldwide.
