AMD has announced two new desktop processors for the consumer market, the A10-7890K APU and the X4 880K Athlon CPU.
The A10-7890K is the fastest desktop APU that AMD has released so far, boasting of 1.0 TFLOPS theoretical compute performance. The APU is bundled with the company’s new “near-silent” 125W AMD thermal solution featuring the Wraith cooler. It integrates the performance of a discrete Radeon R7 class graphics and offers support for DirectX12, OpenGL, Vulkan, FreeSync, and Microsoft Xbox One game streaming on Windows 10.
The Athlon X4 880K is the fastest multi-core Athlon CPU from AMD yet, featuring a maximum turbo frequency of 4.20GHz and an unlocked clock multiplier. It too comes with the same 125W Wraith Cooling solution as the A10-7890K and is claimed to deliver smooth performance at 1440p and 4K resolutions, when paired with a powerful graphics card.
Both the new processors will be available for sale by the end of this month. The A10-7890K carries a suggested price of $164.99 while the Athlon X4 880K will be available for $94.99.
