Amazon accidentally reveals Grand Theft Auto V release date?

Amazon has become well-known for slipping up and accidentally posting release dates for upcoming games, and they may have continued the tradition with the release date of Grand Theft Auto V.

Millions of gamers around the globe are looking forward to jumping into Los Santos, the fictional mock-city within Rockstar Games' latest chapter in the acclaimed franchise Grand Theft Auto V.

If you're one of the millions of fans who are eager to wreak havoc on the streets and skies of Los Santos (and have already opened the Christmas present of five new screenshots that Rockstar gave you) then you'll be excited to hear the game may be coming sooner than you think.

A slip-up on Amazon's listing page for GTA V revealed that the game may be releasing on March 26, 2013.

But keep in mind this has not been officially confirmed, it's merely a date that was listed on Amazon's website, but it's pretty much the only solid date gamers have received thus far.

It's interesting to note that this information has been taken off Amazon's GTA V page…but this could be due to two possibilities: either that the release date was right on the spot or that it was completely wrong.

OXCGN.com has actually captured a screenshot of an e-mail sent out to everyone who pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto V at Amazon, showing the proposed release date.

The March date does fit into Rockstar's vague "Spring 2013" release window–a date which was actually leaked to the internet due to more retail slip-ups–but hasn't been confirmed nonetheless.

Rockstar has remained tight-lipped on the subject, and this date actually co-incides with the release date of BioShock Infinite, which will put tremendous competition between two of the most-anticipated AAA games of 2013.

If you're not up-to-date with the events of Grand Theft Auto V, it follows a triumvirate of anti-hero ex-cons who ally together for one last big job.

With the huge open-world city of Lost Santos to explore that's complete with a variety of weapons, vehicles, and a city full of hilarious characters, GTA V looks to be one of the most exciting and enjoyable chapters of Rockstar's iconic franchise.

Grand Theft Auto V is to be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and for more information including screenshots and trailers please visit the game's official website.
