Although no new Nexus tablet is expected to be released this year, alleged photos of a Nexus 8 tablet dummy have been posted by a Chinese website. Along with the images, a GeekBench screenshot has also surfaced.
One of the images shows the tablet next to a ruler, suggesting that the tablet will be around 200mm in length. The sides of the tablet are also shown off in the second image, revealing the tablet’s metal frame. It also appears that the tablet could have a speaker positioned on the side as the side seems to have a speaker grille.
The GeekBench system information screenshot shows that the tablet runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and is powered by an octa-core chipset clocked at 1.3GHz. However, the screenshot can easily be faked, so we cannot really trust it blindly.
So, for now, we suggest you take this news with a bag or two of salt. If the Nexus 8 is indeed real, we will definitely see it go official alongside the LG and Huawei Nexus smartphones, possibly as soon as September 29th.
