Rumors about a 4-inch iPhone in the 2015 lineup first surfaced late last year, with multiple sources allegedly ‘confirming’ that Apple is working on a new compact iPhone with a 4-inch display size and a design similar to the iPhone 5c. Today a picture of an alleged rear panel of the iPhone 6c has surfaced, raising hopes once again that Apple is going to launch a new 4-inch iPhone this year.
The alleged iPhone 6c rear panel appears very similar to the iPhone 5c rear panel in many ways. It seems to have the same finish as the iPhone 5c and comes in a familiar Pink color option. However, what sets it apart from the iPhone 5c is the redesigned LED flash cutout and a slightly different bottom panel. While the Apple iPhone 5c features a round cutout for the LED flash, the iPhone 6c rear housing seems to have an oval cutout for the LED flash, similar to the iPhone 5s. This could perhaps indicate that the model will be equipped with a dual-tone LED flash like the iPhone 5s and newer iPhone models. The bottom panel has two loud speaker holes as opposed to a single one on the iPhone 5c.
While the leaked images do not confirm Apple will be launching the iPhone 6c this year, it does indicate that the company has prototypes of a new 4-inch iPhone in testing. Whether or not Apple decides to launch the device does remain to be seen though.
