ADATA technology has announced the launch of the new Premier SP550 solid state drive featuring the triple-level cell (TLC) architecture.
Thanks to the use of TLC architecture, the SP550 drives offer great performance at an affordable price. The Premier SP550 happens to be the first solid state drive from ADATA to use the Silicon Motion (SMI) SM2256 controller. This controller uses the NANDXtend technology that allows the drive to offer support for features such as data shaping, LDPC ECC, and a RAID engine for enhanced data protection, stability, and reliability. To further improve performance, ADATA also uses SLC caching technology.
It isn’t just performance that ADATA has concentrated on. The new Premier SP550 drives also boast of higher total bytes written (TBW) ratings compared to rival drives, bringing greater reliability. To save power and enhance battery life in notebooks, the drive supports SATA DevSlp low power mode.
