ADATA today expanded its lineup of 3D NAND flash storage products with the announcement of Ultimate SU900, a 2.5” SATA 6Gb/s SSD.
The ADATA SU900 uses a high-grade 3D MLC NAND flash and utilizes the SMI 2258 controller. The lineup includes 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and a 2TB model. In terms of performance, the SU900 is claimed to reach maximum sequential read speeds of 560 MB/s and maximum sequential write speeds of up to 525 MB/s. ADATA has focused on the reliability aspect as well with these new drives. The SU900 has a TBW (total bytes written) of up to 800TB and an MTBF (mean time before failure) of 2,000,000 hours.
To ensure sustained high performance, the SU900 comes with onboard DRAM Cache buffer and SLC Cache Buffer (pSLC mode), which compensates for stress and makes sure there is no unwanted performance drop. For ensuring tight data integrity, the SU900 supports data shaping, wear leveling, and RAID engine. It also has intelligent LDPC ECC (low density parity check error-correcting code) to eliminate potential data errors. As a result, ADATA claims the new SU900 is “exponentially more dependable long-term” than conventional mechanical drives.
Thanks to a standard 7mm height and 2.5” form factor, the ADATA SU900 can be installed in any notebook, ultrabook, and the PS4/PS4 Pro for a quick and smooth swap-in upgrade. ADATA is bundling a 2.5mm spacer/riser in the box, along with a 3.5” bracket as well, which should make things a lot easier for desktop owners.
The SU900 drives are now on sale with a 5-year warranty.
