9500GT & 9600GT on a Diet

Left 4 Dead

Mirror’s Edge

PhysX effects and hardware acceleration were disabled.

Left 4 Dead and Mirror’s Edge are illustrative of how wide the performance gap is between the 9600GT and the 9500GT. While the 9600GT can handle most current games at medium settings (and probably upcoming games at low settings), the 9500GT is barely viable for current games, and is unlikely to be able to handle upcoming games.

The Galaxy 9600GT continues to perform slightly slower than the reference model, as expected.

On a side note, the x1 bottleneck we anticipated has yet to present itself, which is a good thing.
