Acer isn’t looking to dive into VR just yet

It looks like there’s one vendor that’s not yet fully committed to virtual reality. Acer CEO Jason Chen has stated that while its latest gaming products will be able to drive VR headsets like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, there’s no intention at this stage to make custom offerings:

Chen pointed out that VR is still at a rather early stage and so far still has not yet had any killer apps or software; however, its demand for high-performance hardware will be a good opportunity for Acer.

Meanwhile, Acer is looking to increase sales in the PC segment, and the vendor is also developing robot technologies that will be aimed at the enterprise segment.

For the PC, Acer is focusing on improving its business structure and profitability, instead of driving up shipment volumes like it has in the past. The company has also recently obtained a syndicated loan and will use the money to invest in new businesses.
