ZTE’s CES 2014 lineup includes Grand S II, Nubia 5S phones, Iconic Phablet and BlueWatch

Announcements ahead of announcements seems to be the latest trend in the tech business, as LG and ZTE have decided to jump the gun in the past 24 hours and tease their upcoming CES releases without going into details too much.

While LG has let quite a few things slip about their Tab-Book 2 and Ultra PC, ZTE is taking the more cryptic route, as the Grand S II, Iconic Phablet and BlueWatch have very few specifics attached to their names as of now.

The Grand S II phone is bound to follow on the footsteps of last year’s Grand S, also introduced during the Consumer Electronics Show, but the magnitude of the predictable upgrades is for the time being unclear.

The only fresh features made official are triple-MIC noise reduction technology, voice-to-phone photography support and voice recognition unlocking, though it’s fairly easy to guess a Snapdragon 800 SoC and Full HD screen are in the cards.

Meanwhile, a 5.7-inch HD panel (not FHD?), unnamed quad-core processor and wireless charging feature are Iconic Phablet’s guarantees, and the BlueWatch, ZTE’s first ever smartwatch, apparently comes with a built-in pedometer (yawn), Bluetooth tethering and Facebook and Twitter support.

Since ZTE still relies heavily on Asian markets, it shouldn’t come as a big shocker two of their products to be showcased in Las Vegas have been out and about in China for a month or so. The Nubia 5S and Nubia 5S Mini are expected to roll out globally in time for the cherry blossoms, albeit they’ll probably not get picked up by any major American carriers.

Such a shame, as the 5-inch Nubia 5S might have snatched a few headlines with S800 speed, OIS 13 MP cam, 4G LTE speeds and, most of all, affordable pricing. The 5S Mini is quite the powerhouse too, all things considered, sporting a 4.7-inch 720p IGZO screen, S600 heat, 2 GB RAM, LTE and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Finally, ZTE will reportedly care for folks on extremely tight budgets at CES as well, parading the Sonata 4G, a 4-inch entry-level Aio Wireless-bound handheld with dual-core Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1 GB RAM, 5 MP rear snapper and 1,780 mAh battery.
