Xbox LIVE sign-ins disrupted, Microsoft affirms this isn’t a ‘Titanfall issue’

On the heels of the release of the online-only shooter Titanfall, gamers are having trouble signing into Xbox LIVE thus preventing them from playing.


Titanfall, one of this year’s most anticipated releases, has officially launched across North America. Unfortunately for many gamers, the Xbox LIVE severs are having some temporary hiccups that prevent sign-ins, thus making it so those affected can’t play the online-only FPS.

According to Xbox spokesperson Major Nelson, Microsoft is indeed aware of the problem and they are working to fix it so that players can get their Titanfall on. Hryb also assures players that this isn’t a “Titanfall issue”:

To say that there are more than a few disgruntled gamers is putting it lightly, and it appears that Microsoft’s cloud-testing has gone off to a bad start, but it’s very likely that this is a temporary roadblock and that the servers will be up and running soon.

Microsoft has recently expanded their Xbox LIVE server banks to quite sizable proportions in order to prepare for Xbox LIVE Compute, however there may be intense bandwidth loads due to the popularity of the game.

Taking a gander at the Xbox LIVE status page, the service has been marked as “limited” functionality and lists the Xbox One as the affected platform–which makes sense considering the Xbox 360 version has yet to be released. Additionally it’s worth noting that not all Xbox One gamers are experiencing the sign-in issues, and Microsoft has left the following status update regarding the interruptions:

“Unable to sign in to Xbox Live? We’re on it! Our team will be hard at work until this issue is fixed and you are back online! Thanks for your patience while we work. We’ll continue to update you right here every 30 minutes until the issue is mitigated.”

Furthermore it seems everything else is up and running smoothly, including apps and the online store, but that doesn’t matter if you can’t sign in in the first place. It’ll be interesting to see how long the service is disrupted, yet Microsoft will assuredly get everything back up soon, and this is to be expected on the release day of a popular online-only game.
