X-mini Breaks Out With Slew Of Stainless Steel Portable Speakers

6 June 2017 – We all know X-mini as a Singaporean brand that pioneered the ultra-portable speaker genre way back in 2006. So what have they been up to lately? A lot, apparently. For the first time ever, X-mini rolls out a rapid-fire onslaught of seven new stainless steel speakers , and the VR-Zone team was on site to cover them for you.

This is X-mini’s new flagship portable range and a sharp departure from their usual collapsible capsules. The wireless KAI X Series comprise of (from smallest to largest) the KAI X1, KAI X2 and KAI X3.

The KAI X1 (S$69.90) is a flat pocket speaker with a maximum 6 hour battery, built-in microphone and a cord that wants you to hang it where you need it.

The X2 (S$99.90) and X3 (S$129.90) are taller and you can expect better audio performance the bigger you go. They also pack 8 hours of playtime and a microSD card reader under the hood.

The CLICK 2 (S$39.90) can endure for up to 6 hours belting out your tunes on the go. It can also serve as a remote camera shutter too, something I never thought I needed but could be useful in some situations.

Best of all? It’s really tiny. Now here’s a bench for my Thumbelina!

The XOUNDBAR (S$49.90) is a wireless speaker flat enough to slip into your pocket – no more awkward bulges! It’s powered by two very flat speakers inside that can more than satisfy you if you want bigger sound for your YouTube videos.

The SUPA (S$209.90) is X-mini’s first ever portable jukebox that takes on a vintage decor-neutral flavour. Rigged up with two speaker drivers internally, it’s ready to deliver your tunes in two separate ways, a ‘vocals’ mode for better mid-range and a ‘bass mode’. The SUPA is good for 8 hours, and on top, we have a swivel-dial for intuitive controls.

This is the largest flagship speaker ever built by X-mini. The cylindrical INFINITI ($569.90) is an omni-directional speaker that reflects sound off nearby walls to create a stereo effect. To achieve this, four powerful speakers have been integrated alongside a down-firing subwoofer. The INFINITI measures 60cm tall and weighs 4Kgs, lighter than it looks!

INFINITI is a portable speaker in every way for a good 4 hours before needing to be charged by USB-C. To achieve a more convincing stereo effect, you can pair another INFINITI but remember, don’t wake the neighbours!

With the exception of the SUPA, all new X-mini speakers can be paired wirelessly to an identical make for stereo sound! The full range of X-mini products can be purchased from X-mini’s website or any X-mini authorised resellers. Look for them at Best Denki, Courts, Challenger, Gain City, Harvey Norman and Popular from end June 2017.
