X marks the spot: Nokia X caught on camera ahead of official unveil

Images of Nokia’s upcoming entry-level Android device Nokia X leak.

There hasn’t been a device that has leaked as many times as the Nokia X in recent memory. The mystery surrounding the device is understandable, considering the fact that the Nokia X is its first Android-based device. After numerous rumors and leaks of the design as well as the UI, images of what seem to be the final version of the Nokia X have leaked ahead of its official announcement next week.

From the images, it is clear that Nokia’s version of Android is vastly different from what other manufacturers are doing. The UI looks more in line with that of Windows Phone, with solid colors and flat icons. The device itself looks sturdily built and quite decent for a handset that is set to be available for around $100. As far as the hardware is concerned, the Nokia X is said to come with a 4-inch WVGA screen, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB internal storage and a 5 MP camera along with a 1,500 mAh battery.

The device will be available in a total of six colors, and users will be able to install Android utilities from the Nokia Store. This is because Nokia is using a forked version of Android, which does not come with Google’s Play Store.
