Walmart will take Xbox One and PlayStation 4 pre-orders from August 24th

Walmart announced today that it will start taking pre-orders for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 from August 24th.

Customers will be able to pre-order the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 from August 24th at Walmart’s retail locations. There is no facility as of  now to pre-order online. Customers must put down a 10 percent down payment to reserve their console, which comes out to $40 for the PlayStation 4 and $50 for the Xbox One. Customers also have the choice of paying for the console in full once it becomes available, or make staggered payments over time.

Pre-ordered gaming consoles can be collected once the launch dates are released, which in the PlayStation 4’s case is November 15th in the U.S., and Walmart says it will reserve consoles until December 13th, which should give customers who pre-ordered more than enough time to pay for it. The Xbox One will retail for $499.99 and the launch edition will include an Xbox One System, Kinect, Day One Commemorative Edition Controller, an Exclusive Achievement and Special Edition packaging. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 4 will cost $399.99 and will come with PlayStation 4 System, DualShock 4 Controller and Wired Mono Headset.

Walmart has also mentioned that it will reserve additional controllers and games for $59.99 each. The games include Ryse, Killzone, Forza Motorsport 5, Deadrising 3, Knack and Driveclub.

Laura Phillips, senior vice president of Entertainment for Walmart U.S., had this to say at the announcement, “We know millions of our customers can’t wait to get their hands on the Xbox One and PS4. As the current market share leader in video game hardware and accessories, customers can trust Walmart to have the latest gaming consoles available at a great low price.”
