Viewsonic Launches ViewPad Tablets In US

Looks like almost everyone is having a tablet device, and the latest manufacturer is Viewsonic who is known for their display products. The manufacturer has recently announced the Viewsonic ViewPad tablets, which come in 7-inch that runs on Android 2.2, and 10-inch that can dual boot Windows 7 and Android 1.6 operating system.

The Viewsonic ViewPad 7, from its model name, features a 7-inch screen (800×480 pixel resolution) and incorporates Google Android 2.2 mobile operating system. It has a 3-megapixel camera at the rear and 0.3-megapixel camera in front, 512MB onboard storage, microSD card slot and supports 3G connectivity. The ViewPad 7 is scheduled to launch at the end of this year at US$479.

The ViewPad 10 can dual boot Google Android 1.6 and Windows 7 and comes with netbook-like hardware, including 10-inch display, 1.66GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB RAM and 16GB flash storage. Pretty much a direct competitor to the Apple iPad.

It will also be equipped with a 1.3-megapixel webcam for video chat and a microSDHC card for storage, both of which can be used in either OS. The ViewPad 10 will only be available early next year 2011, and pricing is said to be around US$629.
