UMi X2 Turbo bookings now start in India

UMi has started taking orders for UX 2 Turbo in India with a guaranteed delivery by July 15th.

UMi has had to contend with a lot of issues even before it sold its first mobile in India. First, it had to face a lengthy customs delay due to which it was not able to fulfil all the orders it had gotten for the X2.

Then, it announced that it would start selling the X2 Turbo, a faster version of the X2 that featured MediaTek’s MT6589T chipset. This announcement led to a lot of customer backlash as most of them were yet to get their devices. In a bid to amend the situation, UMi said in a Facebook post that all customers who had already awaiting the X2 will instead get the faster X2 Turbo for the same price.

However, it looks like a lot of customers are still awaiting their devices, and users took to Facebook to mention that they were not getting any official confirmation or tracking numbers from UMi after they bought the device from UMi’s website. One commenter said on Facebook, “If I had to wait for another month for the X2 Turbo then why on earth was the normal one delivered to me after 6 months?”

In terms of hardware, the X2 and X2 Turbo are great devices. Internal hardware is almost similar, with the only major difference being the faster 1.5 GHz quad-core processor in the X2 Turbo to the 1.2 GHz quad-core processor that is in the X2.  Both devices come with a full-HD 5-inch screen, and users can choose between 1/2 GB RAM and 16/32 GB internal memory. Other features include a 13 mega-pixel rear camera and a 3 mega-pixel front shooter.

It is due to the great hardware as well as the affordability that consumers got attracted to UMi’s X2 and X2 Turbo in the first place. But with the manufacturer not able to fulfill most of its orders, customers are now wary of ordering the X2 Turbo as they feel that this device might also run into the same issues that were faced by the X2.
