Toshiba goes cute with Hello Kitty USB drive and SD cards

Toshiba, in collaboration with Sanrio, plans to release special edition USB flash drives and SD cards that feature Hello Kitty.

Toshiba, drifting this time towards the side of cuteness, has unveiled the new special edition Hello Kitty-themed USB flash drive and SD cards. The project is in collaboration with, you know it, Sanrio, and they have brought one of the company's most famous mascot characters to cater to the "cute" needs of our portable storage devices.

The Hello Kitty USB flash drive, designated as UKT-A008G, is designed like a mini Hello Kitty figure, with a USB connector on it. As suggested by the product code it has 8GB of storage space, and works on Windows XP/Vista/7/8 and OS X 10.0.2+. Unfortunately, it's not specified whether it is fully compatible with a USB 3.0 port or not.

The Hello Kitty SDHC cards are designated as SD-H04GKT and SD-H08GKT, with storage capacities of 4GB and 8GB respectively. While the design still holds the same level of cuteness with its pink externals and presence of our mascot character, it feels a bit less impressive, since you can't really fully appreciate the design when it's inside your mobile device.

These Hello Kitty storage media products are aimed towards the female side of the tech market (surprise!). However, we're quite sure that these products would also raise the positive interest of a few males out there, since the mascot character in question is, you know, Hello Kitty.

The Hello Kitty flash drives and SD cards will be available in Japan on March 9, 2013. There are still no official announcements on its price yet however.
