Sony showcases a unique stylish flair and a surprise cameo in the newly released PS4 unboxing footage.

PS4 Unboxing2

Sony’s PS4 unboxing footage exemplifies the company’s stylish flair with the PlayStation brand. The atmosphere of the on-screen environment is unique and bring a distinct modern feel, clashing with Microsoft’s general–but poignant–unboxing of the Xbox One.

While most gamers already know what’s included within the box, Sony has taken the opportunity to throw in a few embellishments with the modernized locale and a bit of symbolism to boot. They even have some fun with the clip by including a cameo of one of the most recognized figures in the industry.

The unboxing proper begins with a brilliant ray of light reflecting on the PS4’s box–something that all PS4 fans will feel once they get a hold of their console–and then we’re introduced to a shadowy mystery man. The figure is decked out in the iconic purple jacket and brown gloves from Sony’s original Greatness Awaits promo, and he proceeds to show off the box’s contents one-by-one.

Starting with the basics like the various cords (USB, HDMI, AC power), the silent figure pulls out the star of the show last, the PS4, all gleaming jet-black angles. When its all laid out, the shadow lifts and one of the most well-liked figureheads in the gaming sphere delivers the company’s definitive slogan: greatness awaits.

Sony’s PlayStation 4 console launches in just four days on Nov. 15, 2013 for a price point of $399. For more information be sure to check out our recent coverage.
