Sony begins pre-order of unlocked Xperia ZL in the U.S.

Sony, among a few other Android handset makers, has done a commendable job breathing some life back into the Android ecosystem recently in terms of design with the Xperia Z line, and the ZL handset will begin to officially stream into the U.S. as an unlocked handset for those willing to fork over a few gold coins.

Both the HSPA+ and 4G LTE versions of the ZL will begin shipping on April 8, with the LTE model to run for $760 and the HSPA+ model for $720.  On the hardware front, the Xperia ZL sports Qualcomm’s APQ8064 quad-core Snapdragon, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera (2MP front), 16GB of internal storage (upgradeable to 64GB with a microSD), and Android Jelly Bean 4.1.

Consumers will have to make some tough choices as Samsung's Galaxy S IV and HTC's One have also made strong cases as to why they should be the hands of mobile users.  Which one will you pick up?
