Singapore To Host First PUBG Regional Championship

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, better known as PUBG, is one of the most popular games in the slew of recent battle royale-styled releases. Bearing testament to the popularity of this title first released on PC, PUBG has subsequently made its way onto Xbox and mobile, with rumours of a PS4 version coming soon. The first regional PUBG championship will be hosted by CPL (Cyberathlete Professional League) in Singapore and will be held at the Asia GAME Festival (AGF) 2018 held on 9-10 June 2018 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

This eSports tournament is the result of a collaboration between the CPL and AGF Organising Committee and is officially supported by PUBG Corporation. MSI (Micro-Star International) is the official sponsor of the event. This landmark regional championship will be open to the top gamers from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.

You can expect 100 of South-East Asia’s top PUBG players to face off in a battle royale for a shot at glory, or perhaps to take home the iconic frying pan trophy along with cash prizes totalling SGD10,000.

100 gamers from Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam will be selected and invited directly to AGF 2018 through online qualifiers and invitationals.

80 teams from Singapore and Malaysia will be competing via online qualifiers for a chance to represent their country at the CPL Championship. The Singapore and Malaysia online qualifier will be held on the 19th and 27th May respectively and will be streamed on the Singapore’s Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) Twitch channel.

An additional 14 slots will be left available for the regional gaming communities to register directly for the live finals – giving them a second shot at the Championship.

The CPL Championship-PUBG is organized by the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) in partnership with Micro-Star International (MSI). MSI is the exclusive Notebook and PC system partner for this Championship and will be providing their top of the line range of products to give the gamers the best experience possible when competing on the main esports stage.
