Sharp brings Galapagos 3D phones to China

The Sharp Galapagos 3D smartphones were launched in Japan since last month, and the phones do not require special glasses unlike the 3D HDTVs. While Sharp smartphones are generally only available in Japan, it looks like it may come to China (and possibly other parts of the world too).

Japanese manufacturer Sharp was in Beijing,China earlier this week for a media relations event. At the event, The company talked about the smartphones market situation in China and Japan, as well as cooperation with the three big telcos in Japan when it launched three Android smartphones in November this year. Two of the models (003SH and SH-03C) under Galapagos series support glasses-free 3D display technology, while the ISO3 does not. Sharp also revealed that it will introduce more smartphones in China including the ones with glasses-free 3D display technology.

The Sharp Galapagos 003SH runs Android 2.2, has 3.8-inch WVGA 3D touchscreen display and 9.6-megapixel CCD camera that supports high definition (HD) video recording. The Sharp Galapagos SH-03C is equipped with Android 2.1 and supports the same glasses-free 3D display like the 003SH.

Sharp smartphones are only designed for the Japan market, but with words that it will be bringing their Galapagos 3D smartphones to China, it may be likely that the company would bring the smartphones to other parts of the world.
