Sex does NOT sell on Microsoft Kinect

The new Microsoft Kinect whereby “you are the controller” has become a very popular interactive gaming experience for the family. But besides genres like dancing, driving, sports and interacting with subjects such as animals, some game companies are utilizing the technology for adult-based games. And Microsoft is saying it does not condone such sex-themed games.

Recent news reported that adult gaming company, ThriXXX, is currently developing adult-themed Kinect games for the Microsoft Xbox 360 and even the PC. The company is still currently testing its games, though it has plans to release to the public when it is ready. Here’s a demo video whereby you can see how well the the Kinect camera works in accordance to the software matching hand movements with on-screen interaction. (Warning: the video is Not Safe For Work).

Unfortunately, the game company may have to seek other ways to get its title on the Xbox 360, as Microsoft is coming down hard against the creative use of its Kinect device. Microsoft insists that there is no way that ThriXXX’s adult game would ever pass Microsoft’s certification process.

“Microsoft did not authorize or license its technology for this use. Xbox is a family friendly games and entertainment console and does not allow Adults Only (AO) content to be certified for use on its platform, and would not condone this type of game for Kinect,” according to a Microsoft spokesperson.
