Sapphire to manufacture motherboards

Sapphire, a tier one manufacturer for AMD graphics card, has announced its plan to develop motherboards for high-end Intel platforms. Among the two boards announced, one of them would be a X58 SAPPHIRE Pure Black, while the other board would be the SAPPHIRE Pure Black P67 Hydra.

The first product in this series is the SAPPHIRE Pure Black X58, based on LGA1366 socket. The board features rear USB3.0 ports, SATA connectors that support 6Gbps and 3Gbps throughput, six DDR3 memory slots, three PCI-E x16 slots and one PCI-E x4 slot.

The motherboard would come with overclocking features that look to appeal to the hardware enthusiasts. Quality components like the patented SAPPHIRE Diamond Black chokes that are on SAPPHIRE’s high-end graphics card, will also be used on the Pure Black X58. Onboard start, reset and clear CMOS buttons can easily be found at the bottom left of the board. Other features like debug indicator and voltage test points aim to provide users with easy troubleshooting. Another version of TriXX – SAPPHIRE’s software overclocking tool is also included for easy performance tuning and status monitoring.

Another motherboard to look forward to, is the SAPPHIRE Pure Black P67 Hydra that supports LGA1155 processors. The Lucid Hydra chip that was seen on MSI boards is also incorporated here, allowing for a mix of graphics configuration. It is expected to use the similar quality components found on the X58 SAPPHIRE Pure Black.

The boards are already in production and are expected to be on sale soon.
