In 2015, Samsung launched four major flagship devices, followed by the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge this year. The Galaxy Note 6 is set to be its next hero device, and if some of the rumors turn out to be correct, the Note 6 could also be accompanied by a curved variant. That would make a total of four flagships for the year just like the previous one; according to a new leak, 2017 will see the company doing the same while also adding a fifth flagship to the mix.
Samsung will reportedly launch the Galaxy X, a foldable smartphone, alongside the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 edge, Galaxy Note 7, and Galaxy Note 7 edge. It wouldn’t exactly be accurate to call the foldable phone the fifth flagship – given the technology it is likely to be an experimental device that won’t be available everywhere. Samsung’s foldable smartphone was expected to make an appearance in January this year, but it isn’t surprising such a new form factor is being continually delayed before it can be unveiled.
According to the source, the four major flagships will feature 2.5K AMOLED displays with RGB matrix arrangement. There’s no telling how accurate the report of Samsung’s 2017 plans is, and we will just have to focus on the rumor mill’s revelations of the Galaxy Note 6 for the time being before moving on to whatever the Korean giant has planned for the coming year.
