India was one of the few launch markets for the original Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7, and it’s not surprising that the sequels to those devices have now made their way to the country. Samsung has launched the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) in India, at prices of Rs. 13,990 and Rs. 15,990. Both handsets will be available from retailer Flipkart in gold, white and black colors, with Samsung throwing in offers like free mobile data from carrier Airtel for six months.
In terms of specs, these are mostly the same devices that launched in China, but with a couple of downgrades for the Galaxy J7 (2016). The hardware includes 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED displays, quad-core and octa-core processors, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel wide-angle front camera, 16GB of expandable storage, 4G LTE connectivity, two SIM slots, and 3,100 mAh and 3,300 mAh batteries. On the software front, both handsets run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Samsung’s TouchWiz UX.
