Samsung announces the Omnia M Windows Phone 7 smartphone

If you're on the hunt for an affordable, large screen Windows Phone 7 handset, then maybe Samsung's new Omnia M is what you've been waiting for. Admittedly no pricing was announced, but judging by the features, the Omnia M should be a mid-range model with a price to match.

If you're on the hunt for an affordable, large screen Windows Phone 7 handset, then maybe Samsung's new Omnia M is what you've been waiting for. Admittedly no pricing was announced, but judging by the features, the Omnia M should be a mid-range model with a price to match.

The biggest selling point of the Omnia M would be its 4-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of what we presume is 800×480 pixels. As with most Windows Phone 7 devices, the Omnia M has a 1GHz single core CPU and we should be looking at one or another model from Qualcomm here, but Samsung hasn't mentioned any specifics as yet.

Other features include 4GB of user accessible storage, 384MB of RAM, a 5Megapixel rear camera, plus a front camera for video calls, HSDPA 7.2Mbps connectivity, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS and a micro USB 2.0 port. The handset measures 121.6×64.1×10.5mm and weighs in at 119g. The Omnia M ships with Windows Phone 7.5 as well as a wide range of Samsung apps and 25GB of free SkyDrive storage space. No word on availability as yet, but we'd expect the handset to roll out shortly.
