RIM launches BES 10, a complete multi-platform management service

Before RIM has launched its BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, just a few days before rolling out BlackBerry 10—the latest mobile OS from the Canadian handset maker.

BES 10 is a multi-platform management service aimed at businesses and government agencies.  The enterprise system will help IT admin manage workers’ mobile devices, separating work related data and apps from personal.  Corporate-centric apps will be handled by “BlackBerry World for Work,” which is RIM’s app store for purchasing business-related apps.  Moreover, BES 10 admins will have the ability to push apps to BB10, iOS as well as Android as needed.

RIM also released a video demonstrating how BES 10 can enhance work flow by consolidating platforms management and putting them under one synchronous roof.  The video’s demo of BES 10 only shows off partially what the service is capable of, and it’s relatively straight forward.  First, the admin selects a user from a list. Next, he adds the device.  Finally, he enters an activation password to activate the service.

“BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 empowers employees to be more productive and better equipped to serve customers while it provides business and IT leaders with the confidence that corporate data is protected and manageable in the same way they have long enjoyed with BlackBerry,” says Peter Devenyi, RIM’s Enterprise Software Senior Vice President.
