Quick look at CommunicAsia 2012

Chinese multinational telecommunications equipment and systems company, ZTE, has announced the Grand X LTE (T82), which claims to be the company’s first single-chip LTE smartphone. The Grand X LTE has a unique buttonless design and is equipped with 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch qHD (560×960) TFT capacitive touchscreen, 8 mega-pixel rear camera that supports 1080p HD video shooting and a front camera that supports 720p HD video calls.

ZTE also unveiled the LTE-capable V96A tablet which sports a 10-inch (1280×800) touch display, and features 512MB RAM, 8GB ROM T-flash slot that supports up to 32GB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS and FM radio. It comes with a 6900mAh battery and runs Android 4.0 ICS. Pricing has not been revealed, though the Grand X LTE (T82) and V96A are scheduled to be available in Asia Pacific and Europe in Q3 this year.

Panasonic unveiled the ToughPad A1 at the CommunicAsia 2012 that boasts to be the first fully-rugged Android-powered tablet for the professionals, not mainstream consumers. It sports a 10.1-inch multi-touch+digitizer screen and features a MIL-STD-810G and IP65 rugged, water and dust-resistant design with embedded hardware security for FIPS 140-2 compliance. The ToughPad A1 is already available in the States at US$1,600, and will retail in Singapore around October. Local retail price is not available at press time.
