Purported Xperia i1 Honami surfaces, appears to be a smaller Xperia Z Ultra

It has been a few days since Sony unveiled their flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z Ultra, that is considered the fastest phablet available right now–based on the alleged benchmarks that were released yesterday.

Currently, however, the smartphone that isn’t getting the attention it deserves is the Xperia i1, codenamed Honami or we may call it a smaller version of the Xperia Z Ultra. Recently, some images of the purported Xperia i1 Honami have surfaced, making us wonder if the shrunken down Ultra will be just as wicked.

The alleged photo does show Xperia Z Ultra as well along with Xperia ZQ side-by-side, with the Honami to seemingly feature a 5-inch screen, which we reported earlier as well.

In case you are wondering, the device is expected to feature a Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB internal memory, Android 4.2.2 Jelly bean with new Xperia UI, 4G LTE, 3000 mAh battery, 20 MP back camera and 5-inch Trilumious display. However, the folks over at TechTudo also claim that this is just a prototype and there are chances that the device may launch with a different set of specifications.

Considering this, we cannot be sure if the leaked images are really of Sony Xperia i1 Honami. If the specifications and images appear to be true, we may see the power house, Xperia Z Ultra, in a smaller package.

The pricing and availability is not confirmed yet but it is expected that the device will be released by the end of the third quarter. All we can do is wait for the company to make an official announcement about the device.

With Sony Xperia Z Ultra already announced and Xperia i1 Honami in the pipeline, we could say that Sony may have a successful smartphone lineup that may give strong competition to Samsung and other giants.
