The electrical performance of the Silencer MKIII 1200W power supply has left us with mixed feelings. On one hand, the ripple suppression is extremely good, to the point of being a very rare sight for 1kW+ products, with the maximum ripple we recorded on the massive 12V line being a mere 30mV under maximum load. On the other hand however, voltage regulation is rather loose, being over 3% for all lines and reaching up to 4.5% on the 3.3V line, meaning that all of the voltage lines effectively failed to meet the manufacturer's specifications.

This is an 80Plus Platinum power supply, therefore the extremely high efficiency did not come as a surprise. Users can enjoy efficiency figures of over 90% across the entire load range, no matter whether the input A/C voltage is 110V or 230V.

In an effort to remain silent, the Silencer MKIII 1200W power supply runs quite a bit hotter than many other products sharing a similar power output. The temperatures rise considerably while the power supply is heavily loaded, with the intake/exhaust temperature delta reaching 15.8°C under maximum load.

The Silencer MKIII 1200W power supply does live up to its name, remaining virtually silent even if loaded up to 60% capacity, where the unit had already reached an output of over 700W. Beyond that point however the speed of the fan rises geometrically, from the audible 31.5dB(A) at 70% load up to the ear-bursting 42.9dB(A) at maximum load.
