Palit Nvidia CS Tournament Prize Presentation Event Report

Last Thursday evening, the winners of the inaugural Palit Nvidia Counter-Strike Tournament, dream[s]cape and Momentum, were awarded nearly $7,000 worth of product prizes at a dinner event, in conjunction with the launch of Palit's GeForce GTX 680 Jetstream edition here in Singapore.

Last month, Palit and Nvidia partnered to co-sponsor a Counter-Strike Source online 5v5 competition organized by VR-Zone, named the "Palit Nvidia CS Tournament", in tandem with the marketing activities for the launch of the award winning and current single GPU king of the hill Nvidia GeForce GTX 680. Sixteen teams from around the region participated to shoot it out for very attractive prizes, ranging from Palit's own custom GTX 680 Jetstream Edition to Patriot SSDs and high speed memory kits.

Interested readers can still check out the round by round action with video highlights and demo replays at the http://cs.palit.biz event microsite.

Champions Dream[s]cape, here posing with local Palit distributor Convergent Systems' Michael Tan, with each member walking away with almost SGD$1000 worth of Palit GTX 680 Jetstream 2GB, Patriot 60GB SSD and Nvidia 13' laptop sleeve.

Runner-up Team Momentum, together with local Palit product manager Cheah Wei Min, got themselves a decent prize bundle consisting of Palit GeForce GTX560 Ti, PATRIOT Division2 1866 8GB Kit and Nvidia 13' laptop sleeve.

Prize presentation aside, the event was held to promote the official launch of the Palit GTX 680 offerings in Singapore, with Cheah Wei Min giving a short presentation about the AIB's innovations included in the new GeForce cards.

Here we have the Palit GTX 680 Jetstream edition (our review), available in 2GB and 4GB memory configurations. Besides spotting their own triple-fan heatpipe Jetstream cooler, the card is equipped with a 5-phase DrMOS VRM design (as opposed to 4-phase analog on the reference), purportedly giving it better overclockability.

Also available in Singapore retail stores is the regular reference GTX 680 design, which is a good buy too.

All the guests at the event were treated to a sumpteous buffet and had a chance to play Battlefield 3 on a Nvidia 3D Surround rig, which can be now comfortably driven from a single 6-series Nvidia GPU.
