If you’re looking to get a new AV Receiver you might be in luck. Onkyo had just released their latest series of machines for immersive home theatre sound, at a reasonable price. They are on sale from just S$799, with the top model costing S$2,299.
The most pocket-friendly model packs great performance sans the bells and whistles you may not need. The TX-SR373 supports 5.1 discrete channels at 135W per channel, and decodes the ubiquitous Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio codecs. You’ll also be able to optimise this AVR to your room’s acoustics with AccuEQ Room Acoustic Calibration. Its four HDMI inputs and one output supports HDR and BT.2020 for more vibrant colour reproduction on compatible TVs.
For something much more state-of-the art, the flagship TX-RZ820 Network AVR supports up to 7.2 discrete channels and more powerful 180W per channel output. Here we also see Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support and 7 HDMI inputs that accepts Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, and 4K/60p throughputs. A suite of streaming technologies such as DTS Play-Fi, Chromecast, Airplay, Bluetooth and Spotify Connect is supported, among others. This top model will set you back a cool S$2,299.
If you’ve been holding off on jumping on that multi-room bandwagon, these new receivers might change your mind! All of the new Onkyo receivers (except the TX-SR373) support Blackfire’s FireConnect multi-room streaming, for broadcasting your music to compatible Onkyo music streamers wirelessly. Sampling rates of up to 48khz are supported here.
